Anita Care are delighted to be teaming up with the National Hereditary Breast Cancer helpline in the UK to create a strong photographic journal documenting the stories of twelve inspirational ladies who have dealt with the complicated issue of hereditary breast cancer and preventative breast surgery as a result.

The ladies who were chosen have all been diagnosed with a faulty gene passed down from their parents (most commonly BRCA 1 or 2 but there are several others) that leaves them with an 80 – 90 % chance of developing breast cancer. These ladies discovered they were carrying the gene after losing close female relatives to breast cancer and undergoing a test which showed that they too were carrying the faulty gene.

Anita UK will be visiting the world headquarters in Kufstein this coming July and bringing these twelve amazing ladies with them to shoot a strong and industrial themed story for the journal which will see the ladies wearing Anita care lingerie and sports wear in a variety of steely locations around the head office and factory floors.  The idea is to show the determination and courage that each lady has displayed in the affirmative action she has taken against Breast Cancer by choosing preventative breast surgery. Some of these ladies have already had breast reconstruction, some have chosen not to do that and all are equally determined to raise awareness of Hereditary Breast Cancer.

Everyone has a mum, a sister or aunt, a female cousin or daughter and the aim of this campaign is to ‘Make One Person Aware’ so please share this story with all your female relatives and friends.  It is very worrying that so many people are completely unaware of the fact that Breast Cancer can be a hereditary condition, in today’s digital world we should be able to turn this situation around but we need your help to do so. Please share the message with everyone you know.

Every lady featured in the journal has her own unique story of course and we will be sharing their stories individually from October 2017 on a monthly basis through the year to keep awareness of this condition at the forefront of all our minds.

We will be sharing a few pics each month from the journal so keep an eye on this blog for more details and pics as we draw closer to the launch date.  A big thanks to Jemma Barnes (Anita UK) for organising this worthwhile project and bringing it to life as well as all the staff at headquarters for their help in booking all the necessary arrangements . We will be shooting in mid July so look out for some teaser pics towards the end of the month.
